Serious automotive enthusiasts consider Porsche’s Carrera 2.7 RS to be the archetypical 911…and deservedly so. The cars are light, responsive, purposeful and the type 911/83 engine delivers scintillating performance. Over the last 40 years the 2.7 RS has been covered in dozens of books and articles. Yet its successor – a car with the identical engine and similar DNA – remains either unknown or misunderstood even by long-time Porsche enthusiasts. That car is the Carrera 2.7 MFI. This book tells the complete story of these remarkable, unheralded sports cars.

“Carrera 2.7 is one of those Porsche books you just cannot put down. It is a perfect example of how to write a modern super detailed and beautifully designed text on a specific car.” “excels in terms of research, writing style, design and the huge amount of contemporary and studio photography” “a fantastic work and an essential for any serious Porsche book collector”
– GT Porsche magazine
"Before reading Carrera 2.7, I had always considered the model to be a tiny aspect of the Porsche 911 story, a stop gap model that bridged the gap between the iconic 2.7RS and the start of the EFI 3.0 and 3.2 litre cars. While that may be one way to consider the model, Ryan Snodgrass’ comprehensive book shows just how pivotal the ‘Euro Carrera’ 2.7 model was, both in the influence over subsequent models and the effect on the 930."

– Classic Porsche magazine
“Detailed part photos turn this book into an ultimate restoration guide as well as encyclopedic buyer’s reference”
– Road Scholars magazine
I recently received my copy of Carrera 2.7 and did not put it down until I had devoured all 406 pages! I am life long Porsche fanatic who has a penchant for details and everything being "correct". Mr. Snodgrass must share this affliction as his attention to detail throughout this book borders on the compulsive. For many years the Impact Bumper 2.7 MFI cars have been overlooked and as such there was no definitive guide to the history, authenticity and the overall greatness of these cars. This book will answer all of your questions as well as provide you never before seen factory photographs to substantiate the many previously unknown details.
If I have any complaint with the book is that it is simply too much a piece of "art" to be a useful field tool. From its outer box, binding and beautiful pages it's simply a treat to turn the pages. I found myself being careful while reading so as to not damage what will be long held as one of the treasures of the Porsche written word. It is apparent the care that went into the design, copy and production of this book. It will go on my shelf next to copies of Ludvigsen's "Excellence Was Expected" and Kondradsheim's "Carrera RS". I can't wait to see what the Author comes up with next!
Now if the author could make a paperback "field tool" that I could use when evaluating or judging the authenticity a particular 2.7 MFI...
I now have a copy of this book and it is superb! Certainly the definitive reference for Carrera 2.7 MFI cars. This book is thick with photography, tables, archive pictures, charts, period documents and production numbers. It is meticulously researched.

I knew it was going to be good but I’m staggered at the quality of the photography, the printing, the binding, the design & layout. It is wonderful. And - of course - the content is remarkably complete and thorough. Ryan has invested much of his life into this reference piece and a substantial chunk of money no doubt too. There’s no scrimping on quality and no depth of detail missed. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
I have a large Porsche book collection and this one is hands down the best Porsche book I have ever owned or seen. The attention to detail regarding the 2.7 Carrera is amazing. I restore Porsche's for a living and this is a valuable resource for me. In addition to that the quality of the paper, the binding, the color and photos is outstanding, again the best I have seen. Congratulations to Ryan Snodgrass for this amazing book and for adding to the knowledge data base regarding the Carrera 2.7 and Porsche cars in general. I'm telling all my friends in the Porsche World to get their copy now!
The title says it all; what a phenomenal job, well researched, well photo-documented, well written and very well published. I have read it twice, cover to cover and am still learning more. Typos and factual issues are few and far between (and I am sure Ryan has found all!) and, wouldn't you know it, I may have a pre-production Carrera that doesn't follow "all the rules. In short, this book is bound to be a companion to Ludvigen's "Excellence was Expected" and Kondrasheim/Gruber's "Carrera RS". I am only sorry that regular purchasers did not benefit from the Special Book Supplement that accompanied the red, limited edition..
The books came. As my kids would say, OMG! I am dumbstruck by the detail and the effort that has gone into this work. Absolutely fabulous. So many questions answered in one hit. I am completely thrilled
I had given a copy of the latest Konradsheim to a very dear friend and Porsche guy for his 50th birthday just last week; when I saw your books I instantly sent him a message and told him to stop doing whatever he was doing and just order one before they are all gone. And I believe he did! You just cannot have one without the other. He won’t regret it. Ryan, you have done the community a great service. I take my hat off to you.
When you read the book you understand that the author has put his heart and soul into researching and writing the book, which is probably the reason he decided his work was worthy enough to dedicate it to his late father. Any father would be proud of his son writing such a masterpiece! A must read for any enthusiast or car lover...
Brilliant book and demonstration of superior craftsmanship- like the car itself. Relived my prior ownership and heavy use of the model- best sports car of the 17 mostly iconic cars owned! Book will appeal to all Porsche lovers, and anyone into outstanding design/development- particularly those with a holistic systems development bent ( say, software ) where pieces fit together beautifully to create Superior Results!
Hard to believe that there is anything new to write about Porsches, but this beautiful book is a comprehensive overview of the 2.7 era, and had lots of previously unpublished photographs. While it is not cheap and is a limited edition, if you own or wish to own a 2.7 Porsche , this is definitely the book to have. Very well written and beautifully illustrated.
